Driving License process to get in Bangladesh
Driving a motor vehicle without a driving license is a punishable offense under the state law of Bangladesh. These offense becomes more serious if the driver is responsible for any accident.
Not having a driving license creates a sense of guilt, which increases the chances of accidents also. Therefore, all drivers should obtain a proper license in order to comply with state laws and qualify themselves to operate a motor vehicle.
Primary procedure for licensing in Bangladesh
BRTA generally issues licenses through a three-tier examination. For a driver’s training experience and license are very important for the safety of the public on the road.
Applying for the original license before, you must first apply for a learner driving license in the prescribed form of BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) along with the necessary documents.
B.N; BRTA offices or authorized offices are located in almost all districts of Bangladesh.
Learner or Apprentice Driving License application requires-
# National Identity Card, Birth Certificate, or Passport should be an attested copy.
# Freshly taken stamp and passport size photograph (01 copy and 03 copy).
#Medical certificate by a registered doctor.
#BRTA separately prescribed fees ie BDT.345/- for motorcycles only, and BDT.518/- for motorcycles and light vehicles.
(But if this fee is changed by the Government of Bangladesh it should be followed)
The learner’s driving license is for the training period only. After passing the written, oral, and field tests at the end of the prescribed training, you must apply for the original license or smart card.
Steps to Get a Smart Card Driving License-
# Application should be made using the prescribed form at the BRTA office.
#Attested copy of National Identity Card, Birth Certificate or Passport.
#Medical certificate by a registered doctor.
#Freshly taken passport-size photograph (1 copy).
#For amateur license – BDT.1680/- (with 10 years renewal) and
# For Professional License – BDT.2542/- (with 5 years renewal fee).
(In this case, the police investigation report should be submitted if the license is professional.)
What is an amateur license?
A license is required if a motorcycle or light vehicle is to be driven on the road for personal purposes. The license used in this case is considered amateur. It is not possible to operate a motorcycle or light vehicle of any company with an amateur license, as it is not approved by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority.
What is a professional license and why is it needed?
The license required to operate light vehicles including motorcycles on the road for an organization or individual is called a professional driving license. It is not possible to work in any organization without a professional license as it is the rules issued by BRTA.
How to reissue driving license if damaged torn or lost?
If the driver’s license is damaged or torn or lost, the license holder has to deposit the required fee through the post office in the prescribed form.
The application should be submitted to the Licensing Authority along with three copies of passport-size attested photographs with a detailed description of the driving license issued by the Licensing Authority mentioning the full details of the license.
Also, notice should be given in any daily newspaper. The date of that notification should be mentioned in the application form and attached to the application form by cutting the specific place of the said newspaper. If the application is found to be true, a duplicate will be issued to the licensee. This is how to recover a lost, torn, or damaged license.
Live Field Test for Driving License
A condition for safe riding of a bike or motorcycle is to carry valid driving license. And digital number plate documents. Out of the many parts to take this paper, the most difficult part is the field test.
Here an examiner directly tests how skilled a rider is in riding his bike or motorcycle. Many of us are good drivers, but the problem is that when we take the field test, some common mistakes disqualify us from getting a driving license.
To pass the field test one must carefully follow all the rules and drive the motorcycle or bike efficiently to get the d r i v i n g l i c e n s e. In this case, it is very important to have mental strength and proper knowledge of motorcycle handling.
