A special motorcycle ride was held in London to demand the release of Lindsay and Craig Foreman, a British motorcycling couple who have been detained in Iran for over 600 days.
600 Days Two Bikers Held in Iran; Motorcycle Rally in London Demands Their Release
Several British motorcyclists participated in the ride held on September 9. Their objective was to bring the couple’s prolonged detention back into the public eye and urge the British government to take action to secure their release.
Lindsay and Craig Foreman set out on a round-the-world motorcycle journey in 2024. At one stage of their trip, they entered Iran. They were detained while in the country in January 2025. Iranian authorities subsequently charged them with espionage, and a court later sentenced them to 10 years in prison. However, the couple has denied these allegations, and their family maintains their innocence.
This ride was organized in London to mark the passage of more than 600 days since the couple’s detention. The ride began in the Queen’s Gate area, passed by the Iranian Embassy, and proceeded toward Parliament Square. A similar motorcycle ride had previously been held in London to mark the 500th day of their detention; the motorcycling community continues to organize regular events in their support to keep the issue of their prolonged captivity in the public consciousness.
The Foreman family has long been appealing to the British government to bring them home. The British government has stated that it is treating their safety and health as a priority and is discussing the matter with Iran through diplomatic channels.
This incident has also highlighted the risks associated with long-distance motorcycle travel. While such journeys represent adventure and freedom for many, navigating local laws and political climates in various countries becomes a crucial factor.
