Rules for changing motorcycle ownership

Many of us face various problems when changing motorcycle ownership. Bangladesh is a populous country, due to which the biggest problem on the roads of our country is traffic jams. Each type of motorcycle has different features, performance, mileage, power. But many people cannot afford to buy a new bike, as a result of which they want to buy an old motorcycle or a second-hand motorcycle. But not everyone knows what the rules are or what to do to change the ownership of a motorcycle. Let’s see the rules.

How much does it cost to change ownership of a cc bike? When we buy an old or second hand motorcycle, we have to change the motorcycle’s paper or number plate in our own name for changing the ownership of the motorcycle. Many of us do not know how much it costs to change the bike in the bank and how much it costs for a cc bike with or without a number plate and we get into trouble. Let’s see how much it can cost.

Buyer’s Requirements for ownership Chinging:

1. Completed and signed ‘TO’ and ‘TTO’ forms; [These two forms and other forms can be found in the DOWNLOAD FORMS section of this website]
2. Receipt of required fee.
3. Attested copy of TIN certificate of the buyer (in case of non-hire cars, jeeps, microbuses).
4. Original registration certificate (both copies)/Digital registration certificate (where applicable).
5. Affidavit of the heirs on non-judicial stamp with photo (if there are more than one heir and ownership is given in the name of one, another affidavit on stamp will have to be given by the other heirs).
6. Provide the buyer’s sample signature on the relevant sample signature form and provide all other information in the form including name in English, father’s/husband’s name, full address and 3 copies of stamp-sized color photo, but if the buyer is an organization, a letter on an official pad with the above-mentioned documents (except the affidavit).

What the seller needs to do:
1. Sign the form ‘TTO’ and the sales receipt.
2. Affidavit of sale with the seller’s photo.
3. If the seller is a company, provide the intimation, board regulation and authorization letter on the company’s letterhead pad.
4. If the motor vehicle is liable to a bank or any other organization, collect and submit the loan repayment clearance certificate of the liable organization.

Documents required for transfer of ownership through inheritance:

1. Completed and signed ‘TO’ and ‘TTO’ forms (these two forms and other forms can be found in the DOWNLOAD FORMS section of this website).
2. Certificate of inheritance issued by the court/local government institution.
3. Receipt of payment of required fees.
4. If there are multiple heirs, attested copy of TIN certificate of the first heir (in case of cars, jeeps, microbuses that are not rented).
5. Original registration certificate (both copies)/digital registration certificate (where applicable).
6. Affidavit of the heirs regarding the acquisition of ownership through inheritance on a non-judicial stamp with a photograph (if there are more than one heir and the ownership is given in the name of one, then another affidavit on a non-judicial stamp with photographs of all the other heirs).
7. Sample signature on the sample signature form and fill in the other information of the form including name in English, father’s/husband’s name, full address and 3 copies of stamp-sized color photos.
